How do I adopt a dog from the Shelter?
Call Elena on 99520511 and arrange to visit the Shelter to have a look at the dogs. Once you have selected a dog, the dog will be sent to the vet for vaccination, microchipping and sterilisation. If you select a puppy, it will be vaccinated and microchipped and you will have to have it sterilised when it is six months old.

How long does it take from the time I choose a dog to taking my dog home?
Usually a week, however, in the case of puppies, this can take longer as they must have had their second vaccination before leaving the Shelter.

Why are all the dogs from the Nicosia Dog Shelter sterilised?
Many thousands of dogs are put to sleep every year in Cyprus due to uncontrolled breeding. There are simply too many dogs being born and not enough homes for them all. These unwanted dogs and puppies often end up in animal shelters like ours which are already full, so the Nicosia Dog Shelter is committed to the idea that sterilisation is preferable to euthanasia.

How much will it cost me to adopt a dog?
The Shelter does not charge anything for rehoming dogs, we only ask for the dog’s expenses to be covered for the vaccination, sterilisation and microchipping, which is mandatory by law.
